Students hoping to transfer to University of California (UC) campuses can apply for the Transfer Admissions Guarantee (TAG) program during the month of September.

TAG is a program offered by UC’s to students who wish to transfer from a California Community College.

The program guarantees Delta College students admissions to certain colleges and UC campuses, by meeting specific requirements.

Also, as a TAG participant, transfer students will be eligible for early admissions notifications and students will receive help with guidance on any major preparations and required coursework.

For the 2012-13 school year there are seven universities giving Delta College students the opportunity to apply for a TAG.

Those universities include UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside, UC San Diego and UC Davis.

Applications for the TAG program opened Sept. 1st and will be accepted until Sept. 30. Students applying for a TAG must complete a University of California application as well. Those applications are accepted from Nov. 1-30.

The Career Transfer Center, located in the DeRicco Student Services Building, is now offering students assistance through TAG workshops.

These workshops help determine which universities offering the TAG program, fit students best, based on their qualifications.

Debra Louie, counselor at Delta College, is also on hand at these workshops, where she will go over specific requirements set by universities participating.

Louie also includes step by step directions on how to apply for a TAG and she will answer any questions students may have.

“TAG is beneficial in that it is a tool that can be used by all students to help them stay on the right track, by keeping record of student’s UC transferable units, GPA’s and making sure requirements needed by UC campuses are being met,” said Louie. “TAG gives students hope for success. I would encourage as many students as possible to look at it, and start a TAG.”

Upcoming workshops are Thursday, Sept. 22 and Sept. 29 from 2-3:30 p.m. in DeRicco 151.
