Florida State, Auburn ready to do battle

College Football bowl mania began after last weekend making the top two teams in the nation clear.

The Florida State Seminoles punched its team ticket to the National Championship game after a beating the Duke Blue Devils in the ACC conference championship game 45-7.

The Seminoles were holding on to the No. 2 spot for majority of the season, led by star freshman Quarterback Jameis Winston.

Alabama, which was No. 1 from the beginning of the season, lost in a thrilling game against the Auburn Tigers, which moved the Seminoles to the top spot.

The Ohio State Buckeyes were originally in the the No. 2 slot, but dropped after losing the Big 10 Championship Game to the Michigan State Spartans 34-24.

The Auburn Tigers defeated the Missouri Tigers in a shootout 59-42, which moved the team from No. 5 to No. 2.

College Bowl Games are projected now with these rankings.

The current Top 10 are now:

  4. Michigan State
  5. Stanford
  6. Baylor
  7. Ohio State
  8. South Carolina
  9. Missouri
  10. Oregon

The Rose Bowl Game will have Michigan State against the Stanford Cardinal. The Orange Bowl will host the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Clemson Tigers. The Sugar Bowl has Alabama against Oklahoma. The Fiesta Bowl will present the Baylor Bears and the UCF Knights.

The National Championship game includes No. 1 Florida State against No. 2 Auburn on Jan. 6 and will air on ESPN.

This will be the final season for the controversial Bowl Championship Series system because next season a four-team playoff format begins, in which the top four teams will battle out for the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in the National Championship game.
