Former Stockton United School District physical education teacher, Denny Peterson pleaded guilty to one count of battery on May 20. Peterson also had ties to the Delta College campus.

According to News 10, Peterson will serve 10 days in jail, three years formal probation, and mandatory child abuse classes.

He will be sentenced on June 18.

The charge stems from an incident back in August 2014, when Peterson was caught on camera dragging a 14-year-old Edison student across the concrete floor and trying to throw her in the pool.

Peterson was put on a month paid administrative leave, before being reassigned to an elementary school.

When the victim’s parents became aware Peterson was back at work working with youth, they hired a local lawyer, Gilbert Somera.

In another article from News 10, after the video went viral in November, the Stockton school administrative were told about a pending misdemeanor charge of corporal injury to a child, he was placed on leave again.

Peterson was also Delta College’s pitching coach before the season started.

However, he is no longer with the team, and his biography has been taken down from the website.

The plea deal came a day before the Delta College men’s baseball team prepare for a Final Four showdown against Orange Coast for a trip to the state title. Orange Coast beat out the Mustangs for the state title.

A voice mail for Gilbert Somera, the victim’s family attorney, went unanswered.
