Drake is one of the most well-known rappers in today’s pop, hip-hop and R&B music.

On Oct.10, Drake broke a 32-year record with 13 American Music Award nominations.

He broke King of Pop Michael Jackson’s record of 11 nominations in 1984 when he released “Thriller.”

The nominations were announced on Good Morning America by singers Joe Jonas and Rachel Platten.

Nominations for the rapper includes Artist of the Year, Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Album, Favorite Rap song and many others.

If Drake wins in any of the categories, it will be his first American Music Award win after 22 nominations.

Drake competes against Adele, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Twenty-One Pilots, Carrie Underwood and The Weeknd for Artist of the Year.

Drake’s album “Views” was released April 29 and spent 13 weeks at the top of the U.S. music charts this year.

His single “One Dance featuring Wizkid & Kyla” was chosen as Billboard’s 2016 song of the summer.

“One Dance” was also a No. 1 hit in Canada and Britain as well as several European countries.

Drake was also nominated twice for Best Collaboration with “One Dance” and “Work” by Rihanna where he was featured.

The same two songs are nominated for Favorite Soul/ R&B Song, and “Work” has a third bid for Video of the Year.

Drake even contends twice for Best Rap/Hip-Hop Album for his own album “Views” and as well as his collaboration with rapper Future for “What a Time to Be Alive.”

According to iTunes, “Views” is the first album to reach one billion streams on Apple Music.

As of late August, according to music website Billboard.com, the album has sold nearly 1.4 million copies worldwide.

Rihanna falls behind Drake with seven nominations and Adele and Bieber have five. Beyoncé’s album “Lemonade” released this year was nominated in four categories.

Nominations are entirely based on the album, digital song sales, touring, radio airplay, social media activity and fan interactions through Billboard Magazine and Billboard.com.

The American Music Awards will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 20 and broadcast live at 5 p.m. on ABC.
