Despite not having a president or a permanent meeting place as of yet, the M.E.Ch.A. Club welcomes new members.

M.E.Ch.A. stands for Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán.

The Delta College chapter is part of a larger, nationwide organization.

The club focuses on community service and outreach, as well as being politically involved regarding actions such as the recent budget cuts.

“It’s a really great national organization,” said club advisor Anthony Martinez.

Martinez said he enjoys getting to meet people from different countries and giving back to the community by doing community service.

Activities include a camping trip to New Hogan Lake this semester.

On March 18 M.E.Ch.A. will host a blood drive in honor of Cesar Chavez on the Delta College campus.

The club will also host celebrations on campus for Cesar Chavez Day on March 31 and Cinco De Mayo on May 5.

M.E.Ch.A. currently meets in the Shima Lounge every Friday at 1 p.m.
The club can be contacted at deltacollegemecha@yahoo.com.
