Earlier this afternoon the 2019 California Community College Athletic Association North Regional soccer brackets were released and as expected the Delta College women’s soccer team was one of the top two seeds and they will get to play at home in the postseason where they went 11-0 this season without allowing a single goal.
Coming off a record-breaking season that saw the team go 20-0-2 and capture their first Big 8 Conference championship in program history the Mustangs were given the number two seed and with that, they will not have to go on the road to make the state championship.
Winners of 15 straight games they are now three wins away from making it back to the state championship for the second year in a row after making it last year for the first time in program history.
They will open up the playoffs at home, where they have not lost in over two years while going 21-0-3, on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. against the winner of a Thursday play-in game between Solano and Reedley.
While they will have to head on the road to open the playoffs the men’s team is also postseason-bound as they made the CCCAA playoffs after going 11-6-4 during the regular season.
As the number eleven seed, the men’s team will head to De Anza on Saturday to open the postseason in a rematch of a game they played earlier this season and won by a 2-0 final score.
The state championships for both the men and women are on Dec. 6 and 8 at De Anza College in Cupertino.
