Associated Students of Delta College (ASDC) has two senator positions open for students to apply.

Those positions are Senator of College and Community Relations and Senator of Activities. The Senator of College/Community Relations focuses on building relationships with the community, whereas the Senator of Activities heads up planning the monthly College Hour that takes place every third Thursday of the month.

The minimum requirement to be eligible to be a part of the office is to have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA, enrolled in five or more units each fall and spring semester, and the ability to complete four office hours each week.

ASDC President Daniela Romo said that while the number of applicants is confidential, “I can confidently say that it is usually many people!”

The final day to apply to these roles is Sept. 18 and the ASDC president recommends for all students with different backgrounds to apply.

“I would encourage anyone to apply because we always need differing perspectives. When we make decisions, sit on a committee, or vote, we represent all the students who struggle but do not speak up for themselves. It is a privilege to influence others, especially in a positive way,” said Romo.

All officers of ASDC take a group vote for these roles, for a better opportunity to earn one of these titles and be willing to help others. “We look for students who want to help others succeed, because the people of the valley deserve the ability to educate themselves and move ahead in their lives no matter where they come from,” said Romo.
