“The Nightmare Before Christmas” is a classic movie that people love to watch during fall and as well as the holidays.

One of the biggest debates around this time of year is whether this movie is a Halloween or a Christmas movie.

Although this movie was released in October which is considered the spooky month, some lean towards the film being a Christmas movie, like first year student A.J. Smith.

“I feel like ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ is a Christmas movie because it has the word Christmas in it, but I can see why people say it is a Halloween movie. But I feel like the best way to describe the movie is it being a transition from Halloween to Christmas since that is the next big holiday outside of Thanksgiving,” said Smith.

Though this debate has been tried to be debunked by many sources like New York Times, the Commenian, etc.

Though these sources are unreliable due to the lack of evidence provided in some of their articles that they provided.

However, Henry Selick, the director of this film, who had a quick Q&A at the Telluride Horror Show, and stated “It’s a Halloween movie” when asked whether it is a Halloween or Christmas movie.

Many people believe this film is a Halloween movie, like Liz Lopez, a third year student at Delta.

“I think that ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ is a Halloween movie. The reason I say that is because of the characters, they all have that somewhat scary vibe and feel to them, and it just reminds me more of Halloween than Christmas,” said Lopez.

One thing many people take into perspective is that this movie is a great transition from Halloween to Christmas which is a more uplifting and vibrant holiday compared to Halloween.

“The movie does also give me the idea of it being a holiday movie though because of when Jack goes into the Christmas town he sees all these bright and vibrant colors that he is not used to, so you could say it is goodbye to Halloween and hello to Christmas,” said Lopez.
