The Career Technical Education and Workforce Development Center has streamlined Delta’s internship process with the introduction of the Virtual Career Center platform.

VCC is replacing the previous Jobspeaker platform. While both programs connect interns and employees with employers, VCC might just be a better fit for the Delta College community.

“For students, it’s easier,” said Career and Technical Education and Workforce Development department Administrative Assistant Freshta Faisal. “Because the built in options make it easier for them to choose. It helps them with their application.”

VCC has features like progress trackers for careers, job training, scholarships, apprenticeships and volunteer opportunities that align with student career objectives based on the provided profile.

“VCC works as students create profiles in the contact information,” said Brittani Blizinski, CTE Workforce Internship Coordinator. “The more information they put in, the more they’ll get out of it.”

Other features available include career assessments, training tools, labor market statistics, mock interviews with AI programs trained to help students get interview ready, and labor market tools that predict salary and show what jobs are currently in demand.

Blizinski said the VCC is “a one stop shop where they can look for jobs, look for internships, look for on campus employment. It’s just more convenient.”

“It’s really cool. A really cool tool.” Said Blizinski.

Administrative Assistant Janet Cuevas had already seen the VCC in action weeks ago when students tried the platform at the office. Cuevas said that there is a learning curb, but that with Blizinski’s help students were able to adapt easily.

The CTE Office is located on campus in Shima 217 on the second floor. Students can access the VCC platform by clicking the VCC tile on their Okta dashboard.
