This spring 2025, the student food pantry launched PantrySoft on the MyDelta dashboard.
“I’ve seen PantrySoft on the homepage [MyDelta dashboard],” said Delta student, Tamika Ross. “I’m gonna wait until it opens back up and check it out.”
PantrySoft is a nation-wide service, that provides pantry resources operations for non-profit organizations, community colleges and universities.
This new software is a convenient way for students to register and check into the food pantry. But students must bring their student ID to receive service. Students can schedule future visits and set up email/SMS reminders. If students want to be discreet, it offers student anonymity.
Not only does the program offer convenience to students, but it also helps with pantry operations. PantrySoft tracks inventory count/distribution, deliveries, client/donor database and offers other benefits.
Last year, the student food pantry struggled with food shortages amid an increase in student enrollment.
But, the struggles didn’t phase the pantry, which found other ways to keep stock. During the holidays, they had their Fueling Futures fundraiser, passing their goal and raising $6,691.40.
“I was aware of the shortages last semester,” said Ross. “I tried to stay aware that other people need groceries more than me.”
Food Pantry Student Programs Assistant Valerie Valera expressed excitement for this spring but stays cautious for possible shortages.
“The decision to implement PantrySoft was made last year as part of our efforts to modernize pantry operations. It was soft-launched in November, giving us time to troubleshoot and prepare for the Spring semester rollout,” said Valera. “While we remain cautious about potential shortages, we’re currently not using PantrySoft to track inventory. Right now, we’re focusing on student registration and streamlining the check-out process. However, once we fully implement the inventory tracking feature, it should help us identify trends and plan more effectively.”
The student food pantry is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
