The L.H. Horton Art Gallery at Delta College welcomed a large crowd to its Visual Poetry event reception on January 23, 2025, as art lovers gathered to experience the beauty and creativity on display this semester here at Delta College.

The event, which ran from 5 to 7 p.m., attracted families, students, and community members all eager to view the latest works by Delta College alumni and current students.

The gallery was filled with families and students, many of whom were excited to explore the new works from Delta alumni and current students.

Food and drinks were available to keep the evening festive, and the energy in the air was palpable.

Yet, despite the warmth and vibrancy, maneuvering through space became a bit challenging due to the high turnout.

It was a good problem to have though as it indicated the growing interest in the gallery and its exhibitions. As someone who has been here two years the most people I have seen in Horton probably ever.

While this created a bit of a tight squeeze, the lively atmosphere only enhanced the excitement surrounding the event.

Families mingled with students, exchanging thoughts on the artwork, while others took photos to capture the night.

One of the highlights of the evening was the display of works created in 2023 and 2024. Visitors had the chance to engage with contemporary pieces that reflected the struggles and triumphs of the artists.

Mia Hill’s (I Couldn’t Save You) stood out as a different and raw exploration of human emotion, while Kimberly Juarez’s (Just Keep Building) offered an inspiring message of resilience in the face of adversity.

Both pieces got a lot of reactions from the crowd, sparking conversations and admiration among viewers.

I did not have the chance to meet any of the artists sadly during my time at the reception, but their work spoke for itself.

It was evident that the gallery is an important space for the artistic community at Delta College.

The exhibition successfully highlighted the depth and variety of talent in the student body, offering a window into their creativity and personal expressions.

As the evening ended, the Horton Art Gallery was alive with a sense of energy, a testament to the event’s success in connecting the community.

The Visual Poetry reception not only highlighted the incredible talents of Delta College’s students and alumni. allowed people to understand the gallery’s role as a vital space for artistic expression and collaboration.

In a world that often feels divided gatherings like the Visual Poetry reception offer a rare and valuable opportunity for individuals to come together, engage in meaningful dialogue, and experience

The event brought together a diverse group of attendee’s alumni, students, faculty, and families united by their shared appreciation for creativity and the power of art to inspire and provoke emotion and experience art in person The art will be here until Feb 13.
