During February, the Native American Success Academy hosted three art workshops.
The first two workshops on Feb. 19 and Feb. 24 were painting workshops where students of NASA created art based on the work of Yokuts artist Poyomi McDizzle.
“It’s about cultural enrichment and peer engagement,” said NASA manager Darlene Solorio.
The third event on Feb. 6 was a collaboration between NASA, The Dreamer’s Success Center and Sew Mexican. While the first two events were only open to NASA students, the third event was open to the public.
“This event is just a destress,” said Tina Leal, Resource Specialist for the Dreamer’s Center.
The public event featured the opportunity to learn basic sewing by sewing acorns or leaves.
