Delta’s own Artisan Bakery by the Culinary Arts Program is back and located in Goleman Library!

On Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the fall season, make your way to the Goleman Library Cafe to grab a quick bite. Since opening, the culinary program has been a success with lines to the door of hungry and excited students and employees for fresh breakfast and lunch selections. Such as cannolis, coconut macaroons, and chicken salad sandwiches. They accept cash, credit, and debit as forms of payment.

The Culinary Arts Program has been around for years,  starting off by selling their products in various areas on campus such as the Quad and moving on to many locations after that. Now, they are established in the Goleman Library Cafe. This is located on the right hand side of the main entrance to the Goleman library.

As of right now they are open for the Fall season, but open to expanding their schedule.

“My ultimate goal is to one day be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.,” said Culinary Arts Professor Robert Halabicky.

To achieve this goal, “you have to have enough of a student workforce,” said Halabicky. For information to join this program and intern apply at sjdc.jobspeaker.com. Students and interns are the pillars to run this bakery.

This opportunity gives the students of the culinary program a hands-on experience and the result of nice quality food for students.  They are able to perfect their menu of staple breakfast/ lunch items, pastries, and sandwiches, while learning to create new menu items as well.

With this work experience comes great lessons, Halabicky says the students are taught to be “always moving and always thinking about what you’re going to do next.”
