On Dec. 15,  Delta College launched a newly redesigned website, marking the first design update since 2018.

The new site is designed to help students find information faster, make informed decisions, and enjoy a smoother, more intuitive online experience, according to Delta College.

“All together, these enhancements are designed to help students find information faster, make informed decisions, and enjoy a smoother, more intuitive online experience,” a new release on the newly-launched site reads.

The process began with hiring a company to build the website, a process that took place in the spring and summer of 2024.

The cost was approximately $286,000. That included some additional assistance with writing and page building.

The website build itself was $259,000.

Work in October 2024, meeting with Delta College faculty, administrators, and students to discover what they all want in the new site. The creation of the new website did not officially commence until January 2025. It was finished by May, and then they had to develop pages and transfer material from the old site, which was time-consuming.

They ultimately decided on a December 2025 launch date since they knew it would be less disruptive than launching in the middle of the Fall Semester, and it provided us more time to construct those pages.

Alex Breitler, Director of Marketing and Communications, said in an email he believes some of the improvements make it easier to find information necessary to the student experience, including a new interactive campus map, as well as the new degrees and certifications area  Students can search by keyword, hobbies and talents, TrAC, kind of degree/certificate, noncredit, or even online-eligible programs. Finally, the new service directory should make it easier to discover certain services without knowing which office offers them.

Students were involved in many of the meetings in late 2024.

“In fact, in one of those meetings we spent most of the day with some ASDC leaders brainstorming ways to rethink the website,” said Breitler.“The new “quick links” at the top of the main page (“I’m looking for help with”) actually came out of that meeting.”

The messaging on the launch notes that the debut of the new website is only the beginning, not the end.

“Like before, it wasn’t easy to navigate, but it’s easier to search certain things up now,” states Vanessa Francisco, a first-year student at Delta College.

Breitler said work is intended to continue to tweak and enhance the experience. Student input is a crucial part of that.

After everyone has had some time to become acclimated to the site, the marketing and communications department will conduct a poll to see how well the site is performing and what additional modifications are needed.
