Delta’s baseball team has been playing hard this May, winning six  of its  eight games before facing American River College on April 22. This game was close as Delta won 5-4, after a defensive early game, the score was 2-2 before the eighth inning.

The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 21, getting postponed to the next day. “Yeah, the rain postponed the game, but I don’t think it will affect us today,” said Coach Harmen Sidhu prior to the start of the rescheduled game.

Delta broke through the stalemate in the eighth inning, with Beau Blake hitting a double and Benji O’Rourke walking.

A wild pitch let Blake and O’Rourke advance to third and second, and with Trent Keys getting a single Blake ran home and scored. Next, Tyler Antwine doubled, and O’Rourke scored.

American River College put Jose Vega to pitch, but the momentum carried forward as Tyson Reis walked and Aiden Hall hit a sacrifice fly down center field, letting Trent Keys score the third run of the inning. In the ninth inning American River only scored one run, ending the game with Delta College winning 5-4. Delta went on to sweep American River 3-0 for the season.
