Every day, something always seems to be going wrong in this country: mass shootings, wrongful deportations and many other problems that President Donald J. Trump continues to ignore.
One of the biggest events going on at the moment is the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids that started to conduct this summer on June 6 in different parts of Los Angeles, resulting in arrests, fear, disruption and many other wrongful acts.
Since then, President Trump has spoken on the matter, putting out his initial thoughts on whether he would invoke the Insurrection Act in California.
On June 8, a reporter asked Trump if in California he is prepared to invoke the Insurrection Act? “It depends on whether or not there’s an insurrection,” Trump said. “You have violent people and we’re not going to let them get away with it.”
Since being inaugurated on Jan. 20, Trump hasn’t done anything in any way to help America with its major problems, but instead worries about other things that only cause harm to its American citizens.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson spoke about the possible crackdown on the city. “We will not have our police officers who are working hard every single day to drive down crime, deputized to do traffic stops and checkpoints for the president,” he said.
On Sept. 2, during a press conference, J.B. Pritizer, the governor of Illinois, addressed Trump’s unhinged remarks regarding sending troops to Chicago.
“Rumors have been swirling about what the White House has planned and sifting fact from fiction has been increasingly difficult because Donald Trump’s administration is not working in coordination with the city of Chicago, Cook County or the state of Illinois,” said Pritzker.
In the absence of significant federal coordination, Pritzker said, they’ve gathered information from “unauthorized patriotic officials inside the government from well-sourced reporters about Donald Trump’s plan, which is to deploy armed military personnel to the streets of Chicago.”
Every single thing that Trump has done so far in his term isn’t benefiting America; it’s only making citizens feel fear and hopelessness.
Trump not only causes harm but also ignores the harm within America, and then he focuses his anger on something that wouldn’t benefit the U.S.
On Aug. 27, two students were killed and 17 people were injured in a horrific shooting at a Minneapolis church.
But instead of facing the issue, Trump did nothing more than order American flags to be flown at half-staff to acknowledge the victims.
This doesn’t put a stop to gun violence that has plagued this country for so long.
School shootings are becoming more normal in this country, and as the president of the United States, Trump needs to do more to help protect this country instead of just putting a band-aid on everything and expecting it to be fixed the next day.
Delta Student Jalissa Mendoza, response to whether or not America needs this moment of destruction in order for a future fix on America.
“Yes, I believe that because everything in life is a choice and a lesson, I feel like the way we’re going to grow is learning through our mistakes.”
It’s hard being an American citizen, watching your country fall every waking moment of the day.
But we all must be faithful that the world will eventually be a decent place to live.
