




On Thursday, Jan 29 Delta Men’s baseball team played a home game against Cerritos College. This is the team’s first game of three playing against Cerritos during the last weekend in January. This game went back and forth, ending in a 9-10 with a win for Delta.
Starting the game strong, the opposing team got zero runs in the first inning. Delta’s No. 34 Maximiliano Garcia hit a double and No. 3 Trent Keys and No. 8 Tyson Reis were able to score. Following that play No. 27 Jacob Ortega hit and Garcia was able to score. The play gave Delta a 3-0 lead.
During the second inning Delta held its position and stayed focused not letting the opposing team get a score. At the bottom of the second inning Delta No. 1 Jaden Shabry scored, bringing the score to 4-0.
By the fifth, Cerritos No. 7 hits towards the outfield where Delta’s No. 21 Ny’Zaiah Thompson was. Thompson missed the catch, resulting in the opposing team getting three runs in and making the score 4-5. Following that Cerritos brought in another run bringing the game to 5-5.
In the seventh, Delta scored three more runs from No. 11 Beau Blake and No. 8 Reis giving the Mustangs another lead making the score 9-5.
During the eighth inning Cerritos made a comeback and brought in four points for another tie in the game for a score of 9-9.
In the tenth and final inning Delta stayed strong. In the bottom of the tenth Cerriotos struck out three times not giving them a lead in the score giving delta a chance to break the tie. Top of the tenth inning delta getting the chance for the win. At bat No. 27 Ortega hits and No. 3 Keys brings the score to 9-10 giving Delta College the point for the win of the game.
Ending the first game of three against Cerritos with a win. Keeping the streak against Cerritos Delta wins the next two games with the second game score of 6-3 and the third game with a score of 4-3.
