Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC), a community college in with locations throughout Riverside County, named Dr. Lonita Cordova as one of four candidates for its president position. Cordova, who currently serves as Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Student Services at Delta College, will interview on April 21.

This is the second time in three weeks she’s been publicly named a finalist for a president position. Cordova was part of a series of forums last week for Saddleback College in the South Orange County Community College District. Her campus forum was Monday, April 6. The forum recording is linked on the Saddleback College presidential search website, but is only available for members of the campus community.

Saddleback College hasn’t named its choice for the role yet.

MSJC is searching for its eighth new president due to the retirement of Dr. Roger Schultz.

“The President will have the opportunity to build on the District’s reputation for excellence in student success and service to the communities it serves. The President also will face the positive challenge of booming enrollments that require the skillful acquisition and management of fiscal resources and community partnerships throughout a large geographical area”, according to msjc.edu

The major aims are promoting student performance, increasing enrollment, and strengthening community relationships. The incoming head will drive the school, handle government obligations, and emphasize equal access to education. The annual salary for the Superintendent/President for MSJC is approximately $342,672.04, according to the employment agreement.

The three other finalists are Dr. Tawny Dotson, Dr. Jeannie G. Kim and Dr. Daniel López

The forums for the four finalists will be hosted on Tuesday, April 21 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will be livestreamed on YouTube. The sessions are scheduled back-to-back in the four-hour block.
