The Associated Students of Delta College (ASDC) elections for the 2026-2027 school year are approaching, with elections being held May 5 and  6.

Of the 33 candidates running in the election, four are incumbents in other ASDC positions. These candidates include:

Current Secretary Angelina Cruz-Ochoa is running for senator of legislative affairs or for re-election as her current position.

  • Current Senator At Large #1 Marilyn Canizales is running for senator of activities or senator of college and community relations.
  • Current Senator of College & Community Relations Tina Rocha is running for president
  • Current Senator of South Campus Edwing (is that the correct spelling?) Miranda is running for re-election as his current position or senator at large.

Cruz-Ochoa, current ASDC Secretary and candidate for senator of legislative affairs or re-election as secretary, said she is interested in returning to ASDC office because she would like to “make real change, the change that helps this school and its students for years to come, not just yearly.”

“As a previous ASDC member, I’m also wanting to take some of the former members’ ideas to this new board,” said Cruz-Ochoa.

Other candidates also want to continue the work they’re doing on campus.

“I am interested in continuing as an ASDC officer because I want to continue to foster the growth and community within Delta College,” said Marilyn Canizales, current Senator At Large #1 and candidate for senator of activities or senator of college and community relations.

Rocha noted collaboration as her reason for running.

“I would like to foster more collaboration with our clubs, and help spread responsibilities between all officers, so that everyone works towards a common goal while maintaining a balanced student experience,” said Tina Rocha, current ASDC senator of college & community relations and candidate for ASDC president.

Edwing Miranda has held the position of Senator of South Campus since January and is the  first to hold office since the creation of the position.

“I’ve became an ASDC officer (Senator of South Campus) mid-January. I would love to do more, since I’ve only been able to be senator for around five months,” Miranda said.

A candidate forum event, Meet the Candidates, will be held on April 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the ASDC board room.

The event will function as a meet and greet with the candidates and a Q&A session for the student body. As there are 33 candidates running for office, each candidate will have an opportunity to quickly introduce themselves and answer prepared questions from the Elections Committee.

Ballots for the election will be sent out through email on May 5 at 12:01 a.m. and will close at 11:59 p.m. on May 6.
