2026: A whole new era of TV shows drops
As we enter a new year, a whole new batch of anticipated TV shows is heading to streaming services.
Here are some shows that most people are anticipating seeing in this new year.
‘Invincible’ Season 4
Season 4 is set to come out on March 18 on Amazon Prime.
“Invincible” is a coming-of-age superhero story that follows Mark Grayson, known as Invincible trying to get his powers from his father, Omni-Man and the whole show is often known for deconstructing classic superhero tropes such as gory violence, high stakes and heartfelt moments.
I’m excited to see the level of intensity, gore and character development that season 4 has to offer, which makes me shake every time that I’ve watched this show.
So now things are about to take a really dark turn for Mark Grayson, known as “Invincible”, after the events of season 3.
“It’s going to be a huge transition for Mark and as we saw at the end of season 3 he’s decided that striving to not is a mistake in the wake of what happened to Angstrom Levy and Conquest so he’s going to be taking a different path starting in season 4 and that’s going to take him down a dark road,” said show creator Robert Kirkman on Oct. 25, 2025. Something about “Invincible” that doesn’t disappoint is that it always tries to take it up a notch in each season.
‘The Boys’ Season 5
The final season of “The Boys” on Amazon Prime, releasing on April 8, 2026 is almost upon us, almost to the end of the gory, dark, realistic, and meta-commentary show that has been released since July 26, 2019.
The show often depicts real-world issues such as corporate accountability, abuse of power, political parody and even more real-life problems that are present in this world.
“The Boys” is a satirical superhero series where superpowered people, known in short as “Supes,” are treated like real-life celebrities by the public eye and they work for a corporation called Vought International, where they market Supes and often control the general public.
What I’m really excited about this last season is seeing how everything wraps up and how much violence, hidden messages and how insane it could go to finish off.
During an interview at the Deadline Studio Prime Experience, one of the actors, Jessie T. Usher, who plays the speedster A-Train, spoke about how he had to explain to people why they have to end it.
“When we started this thing, this was Eric [Kripke]’s dream to do 5 solid seasons. It’s kind of amazing to see.” said Usher
Kripke, who is the creator, showrunner and executive producer of “The Boys” always wanted 5 seasons.
‘Lanterns’
Lanterns is set to premiere on HBO Max in late summer 2026.
Since this is still the start of James Gunn’s new DCU, known as DC Universe, a brand new rebooted interconnected film/tv franchise that DC Studios is in charge of.
Lanterns is an upcoming Green Lantern TV series that follows Hal Jordan, an experienced Lantern, and John Stewart, an upcoming Lantern, who are both investigating a murder in Nebraska and revealing the dark corners of Earth. It’s described mostly as a buddy cop and “True Detective”-style show.
As for “Lanterns,” Gunn needs this show to be a success since the last time Green Lantern was on the big screen in 2011 is still called a “failure.”
Aaron Pierre is cast to play John Stewart, known as one of the Green Lanterns who replaced Hal Jordan, who is the most famous member of the Green Lantern Corp who was formerly an Air Force test pilot. The replacement happened during issue #87 of “Green Lanterns” in the comics. That storyline is likely the theme of the show.
“It’s a very grounded and real show, I mean it’s taking this outlandish concept of space cops with magic rings and putting it in as close to reality as it can possibly be,” said Gunn during an interview with HBO
I’m really excited for this series to come out, to see how much better an adaptation of the Green Lanterns this time, unlike the 2011 movie.
Gunn has already confirmed that John Stewart will be the main focus of the show and is going to be the main Green Lantern in the new DCU moving forward.
‘One Piece’ Season 2
“One Piece” is set to be released on March 10 on Netflix.
This live-action adaptation of “One Piece” is a little bit more of a re-imagined version of the popular anime. It’s about a boy named Luffy whose dream is to one day become King of the Pirates and goes on a quest to find the legendary treasure called The One Piece. By the end of Season 1, he ends up getting four people to join his crew.
Since August 31, 2023, when Season 1 came out, the creator of “One Piece,” Eiichiro Oda has been an executive producer for the show, making sure the scripts, set designs and casting were right.
The actor for the live-action version “One Piece,” Inkai Godoy, who plays Luffy, met with Eiichiro Oda in Tokyo and spoke to him about why he decided to do a live-action One Piece
“Back then, 26 years ago when I started ‘One Piece’ it wasn’t possible to adapt a manga like this into live action but at a certain point in time the quality of CG and VFX really started to improve and you could bring anything to life after seeing many such things I decided to take the plunge figuring that if we find a reliable team we could pull this off and adapt it into live action,” said Oda. said Oda on Aug 23, 2025 during a Netflix behind the scenes video
What I’m truly excited about this second season is that I’ve never really watched the animated version of “One Piece” or read any other source material, so I’m going in blind, not knowing key moments, and I love all the characters that I got to witness watching in the 1st season, which quickly got me hooked.
Currently, as of right now, they are filming season 3, which means fans don’t have to wait too long for the season.
For some people, 2026 is already gearing up to be an amazing year for shows.
